Val Yuri has a talent all her own. I've been scouting independent music for the past 13 years and I've never come across an artist quite like her before. At the tender age of 7, Mariya (aka Val Yuri) had an authentic appreciation for music. She garnered inspiration from musical legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall and Nat King Cole. Most adolescents in that age range are not even aware of such musical genius much less reciting their songs. She had something special & she knew it. Mariya also knew that it would take a lot of hard work & perseverance to make her dream a reality. She was willing to put in work that many would pass on.
Her velvety tone puts you in the feel of what music today should be. Its mellow yet commands your attention. You'd never guess such a big voice would come from such a petite young lady.
Mariya has done her homework, put in hard work and sacrificed. She cultivated her craft, learned the business side and did everything right. Why isn't she signed? They say life is what happens when you're making plans. There was a deal on the table but it was pulled at the last minute. Most artists would have given up at that point & found something else to invest time in. Not Mariya. Not only is she a singer/songwriter but she can add sound designer to the list as well.
Her triumph through that rejection illustrates just how hungry she really was to carry out her heart's desire. From young jazz performer to female entrepreneur, Mariya is doing amazing things. Her latest project Katharsis, has the internet all a buzz. My favorite track, if I have to choose one, would have to be 'Here Tonight' featuring Lydia Lyon. The feel is very house music. I love it! Choreographers around the globe will create phenomenal routines from this album. The effects on each track are remarkable. Mariya pays attention to detail & it shows. You always want to be the 1st to do something different. Katharsis is out of this universe! Check out www.ValYuri.com for more info on this incredibly talented young lady.
