IF/THEN MUSICAL ATLANTA - REVIEW

I had the exquisite pleasure of attending press night for the musical IF/THEN on August 9th. This broadway show is playing at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta August 8-14. I read up on this production but was not prepared to love it as much as I did!

The energy of the cast on stage is captivating. I do not want to give away the story. You need to see it live. It’s a unique yet relatable tale of a young woman. A divorcee named Elizabeth moves back to New York in search of her identity. She gets reaquainted with some old friends and makes some new ones along the way. The theme centers around what life would be like if we had made different decisions.

The lead, Elizabeth, was played by Jackie Burns. I was not familiar with her but loved her performance. I read up on her and saw that she is a very accomplished artist. She is well known for her portrayal of Elphaba in WICKED. Her vocals were strong during this performance. There is no one else that could have brought this character to life better than she did.

I was so excited to see one very familiar face on that stage. American Idol season 1 finalist Tamyra Gray portrayed the character Kate. She was simply mesmerizing! She took that character and made the audience believe her. That takes true artistry. Not to mention that voice. She may have lost the title of American Idol but she certainly owned that stage performance. I will definitely look out for more from her.

Parents be advised that this play has a lot of adult themes and language.

Overall, I enjoyed this production tremendously and I encourage you all to check it out at the Fox. If you're not in Atlanta, be sure to check out www.ifthenthemusical.com to find out when the tour comes to your city.

A special Thank You goes out to Brave PR & Atlanta XPLRR for the invite. I appreciate you all so very much.

I'll see you at the next event!
