Lanier Islands Offers All of the Gobble and None of the Trouble for Thanksgiving 2016

Buford, Ga. – October 27, 2016 – For a stress-free and entirely memorable Thanksgiving 2016, Lanier Islands is rolling out the red carpet to couples, friends and families who want to forego the hassle of preparing the holiday meal and picking up afterward in favor of a festive outing with all the “trimmings.” In addition to a Thanksgiving feast of epic proportions expertly prepared by the Islands’ culinary team on Thursday, November 24, the Southern lakeside destination will play host to its renowned holiday light show, a flurry of fun at LanierWorld Winter Adventure, a trio of NFL matchups on the five-story high Spectacular Screen and appearances from the Big Guy himself… Santa Claus for what promises to become a beloved new tradition for many and a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season.

“We invite our guests to skip the hours of cooking and cleaning that’s often associated with Thanksgiving and make the scenic drive over the Lanier Islands’ bridge to let us take care of everything,” said Grier Todd, VP of Hospitality for Lanier Islands. “Our talented chefs will prepare a cornucopia of holiday classics paired with a few feats of culinary creativity. As always, there will be a kids table featuring all of our pint-sized patrons’ favorites, and a dessert station that is likely to have more than one guest considering skipping the main courses in favor of going right for the sweet stuff.”

With seatings from noon to 6 p.m., the menu for the Thanksgiving Buffet will feature herb roasted turkey, slow roasted angus prime rib, and mustard and peppercorn ham at the carving stations, in addition to made-to-order salads, seared scallops, pan seared breast of Muscovy duck and more. Guests won’t want to miss side items such as the brown butter mashed potatoes, maple sweet potato soufflé, brioche pan dressing with savory vegetables or Brussel sprouts with apples and sweet onions – just to name a few. A full bar will offer a variety of adult beverages, including Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Pricing for the buffet is just $49.95 per adult, $44.95 per senior, $29.95 per child 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 770-945-8787.

Of course, the holiday fun doesn’t end once the meal does. Guests can set out to enjoy the Islands’ renowned driving tour of animated light displays before making their way down to the Holiday Village at LanierWorld Winter Adventure for visits with Santa, snow play zones, classic carnival rides, and more. Sports fans who like to mix a little football in with their Thanksgiving festivities can enjoy great NFL matchups throughout the day as part of LanierWorld’s new beachfront tailgate party, Game Day Lanier.
