Santa has arrived at Northlake Mall
Northlake Mall's Christmas tree is officially lit! The tree lighting celebration coincided with the opening of Adventure to Santa - A DreamWorks DreamPlace on Friday.
WCNC meteorologist and local celebrity Larry Sprinkle served as the master of ceremonies, which featured performances from Academy of Dance and Fine Arts doing excerpts from The Nutcracker, young dancers from Keata's Performing Arts Studio dancing to Jingle Bell Rock and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, as well as songs from Our Lady of Consolationgospel choir and country singer David Britt. Of course, the arrival of the biggest celebrity of all, Santa Claus, was a huge hit!
Friday's celebration was also the kickoff to Magical Toy Drive, which collects new, unwrapped toys for The Salvation Army all over Charlotte.
Northlake Mall will serve as a collection spot for the Magical Toy Drive through mid-December. Make sure to take a toy with you when you go out to do your gift shopping this holiday season. And, stop by this Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., for the annual Breakfast with Santa. The first 200 children will receive a free gift.
