Chelsea Shag knew her dreams had come true when she was recording her song “Us Kids” alongside her best friends. “I was in awe the whole time,” she reflected. The Canadian-born artist whose full name is Chelsea Szegidewicz, has been reinventing the image of females in the world of music with her unique songwriting and guitar style. Based in Atlanta, Chelsea draws her inspiration from a great variety of music genres including pop, soul, R&B, blues, jazz and hip-hop. Her strongest influences come from John Mayer and Justin Timberlake, who gave her the love of guitar and dance, respectively. Selected as Creative Loafing’s 2016 Best Of Atlanta Best Local Mainstream Act, Chelsea recently released her debut album, “Colours”, in 2016. “’Colours’ is about what you see when you're feeling ecstatic about what's to come in life whether it be in a relationship, career, just living. I was seeing all kinds of colours,” she explained. “A for Alpha” and “New Perfume” are two of the artist’s personal favorite songs from her album. “A for Alpha” sends a strong message of girl power with epic guitar solos, whereas “New Perfume” shares the ideals of love in a disco style. Chelsea is looking forward to producing new music and is currently working with well-known music producer, Stefan Skarbek, whose credits include Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. A full-length album is already in the works, and her first single will be coming out next month in February. The album will be “funky fresh,” Chelsea excitedly announced. “Sharing the joy I feel with other beings- it makes my soul so happy.
