Condesa Introduces a New Breakfast Treat

Breakfast lovers won’t want to hit snooze anymore, because Condesa Coffee has introduced a brand new, wake up-worthy morning offering. Since opening its doors in 2009, the urban coffee concept that has locations in the Old Fourth Ward and Downtown has captured locals’ palettes and hearts with its focus on fresh, organic ingredients and a contemporary take on traditional coffee offerings.

Available at the Auburn Ave. location only, Condesa is now offering authentic, made-from-scratch Crispy Liège Waffles created by in-house baker, Sarah Harlan. Not a typical waffle, this morning treat is a richer, denser, sweeter, and chewier waffle. Invented by the chef of the prince-bishop of Liège in the 18th century, it as an adaptation of brioche bread dough featuring chunks of pearl sugar, which caramelizes on the outside of the waffle when baked.

Although Liège waffles are typically eaten by themselves, Condesa offers a variety of tasty toppings including Nutella sauce, Wild Blueberry sauce, and Whipped Cream for $0.50 each. Opening at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, hungry diners can start their day off the right way with this Belgian delicacy available at Condesa’s Downtown location (145 A Auburn Ave.) for $5.
