Kentucky Derby-Themed Full Weekend Experience These fundraising affairs are first-of-their-kind events; Alpha chapters from across the Metro-Atlanta area have all collaborated, bringing the best that each chapter offers to put on a first-class weekend. Alphas with chapters located in Atlanta, Morrow, Gwinnett, Cobb, Conyers, East Point, Henry County, and Dekalb will ALL be represented! From the Kick-off Social on Friday, to the classy Sunday Jazz Brunch, if you’re not in Louisville, Kentucky for the Derby, THIS is the place to be seen! Why all the fuss? It is really all about the hats… The Kentucky Derby is the most well-known horse race in the world. It’s run the first Saturday in May (May 6, 2017) in the late afternoon (6PM). Yes, it’s steeped in tradition and ushers in the Spring season, but the bottom line is, it gives us an excuse to dress up and party! Ladies wear large hats, men wear seersucker suits and bowties, and both sip mint juleps well into the evening. Come out, bring your folks, and benefit multiple great causes – all in one weekend. * WEEKEND ACTIVITIES * FRIDAY, MAY 5th: KICK-OFF SOCIAL (The Westin Hotel Buckhead) Welcome to Atlanta! The take-over the Westin Buckhead begins. Join us at our host hotel for a night of partying to get the weekend started. Leave the hats at home (but maybe bring a hand-towel for the turn up). Live music, DJ, on site vendors, ample cash bars, professional photography, stocked hospitality suite, ambiance, and more! SATURDAY, MAY 6th: #AlphaDerby (City Club of Buckhead) Our signature fundraiser. Enjoy the luxury of one of Atlanta’s most exclusive indoor/outdoor venues, the members-only City Club of Buckhead. After you valet park, be sure to peruse the hand-selected vendors, bid on an item during the silent auction, eat premium food, visit any of the cash bars to take advantage of our special priced signature drinks, view the fashionistas and dapper gentlemen, watch the best hat competition, view a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, dance the afternoon away to the live 8 piece band or two of Atlanta’s best DJs, walk away with a parting gift, get caught on camera by professional photographers and videographers… whew, we’ll stop there. Trust us – nothing is left to chance. SUNDAY, MAY 7th: JAZZ BRUNCH (The Westin Hotel Buckhead) How do you cap off a weekend of style, panache, and class? Jazz (and bottomless mimosas of course)! Join the brothers of A Phi A as we celebrate and toast to a great weekend with a live band, DJ, impeccable meal, on site vendors, and more. An ideal setting to relax and perhaps reconnect with those you met over the weekend will be provided. The mid-morning brunch menu was created and prepared under the guidance of one of the best culinary artists in Atlanta. Sunday brunch at The Westin Hotel is renown, and now YOU get to pull up a seat and taste for yourself. Our event travel partners include the luxurious Westin Hotel in Buckhead and Delta Airlines.
