Atlanta Dream Celebrating Jr. WNBA Week

The Dream will celebrate youth basketball throughout the week

ATLANTA – Over the course of the next week, the Atlanta Dream will join 11 other WNBA teams in the annual Jr. WNBA Week. During the week, the WNBA seeks to promote and celebrate youth basketball. The celebration tipped off Wednesday, May 30 and will run through June 10.

The Dream’s local involvement includes participating in the annual Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Superhero 5K at Piedmont Park on Saturday, June 2 beginning at 8 am. Head Coach Nicki Collen, Elizabeth Williams and Jessica Breland will be on hand to help warm-up the runners and start the race.

Also on Saturday, the Dream will be attending the Georgia Aquarium Children’s Tot Trot to cheer on kids in a special race.

As the day turns to night, the Dream will be visiting the Switzer Library for the Cobb County Public Library Summer Reading Kickoff Party. The party, which runs from 5-7 pm, will include STEM Basketball drills, kid yoga, arts & crafts, ticket giveaways and more.

The fun continues Sunday, June 3 at the Dream’s game against Phoenix Mercury. Prior to the game, the team will celebrate young athletes through various fan experiences. At the conclusion of the game, the same participants will be treated to a special Q&A with a Dream player. Tickets for this package are available by calling 877-977-7729.

Angel McCoughtry and the Dream will join the Atlanta Hawks for a Jr. Hawks Camp next Wednesday, June 6 at Welcome All Park. McCoughtry will help run players through drills and speak to the boys and girl participants about the importance of athletics.

Finally, the Dream are excited to partner with Deloitte on their annual Impact Day next Friday, June 8. The organizations will visit the Girl Scouts of Atlanta for a special Girls Run the Boardroom event, where participants will learn about business, play some games and acquire some new skills.

The Atlanta Dream will play its 2018 home games at McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs seven times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
