Gwinnett Stripers Homestand Highlights: June 5-10


Super Hero Night, Prostate Cancer Awareness game highlight six-game homestand

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Gwinnett Stripers welcome the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Syracuse Chiefs for their lone trips to Coolray Field this season from Tuesday, June 5 through Sunday, June 10.

Lehigh Valley, the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, makes its only visit to Lawrenceville this season for the first of two three-game sets on the homestand. The first two games include Reel Deal Tuesday on June 5 and Worm Wednesday on June 6. Thursday, June 7 will be an early 12:05 p.m. start time as we welcome area kids for Daycare Day.

Syracuse, the Washington Nationals’ Triple-A affiliate, comes to town for the second three-game series over the weekend. On Friday, June 8, fans will receive pieces of bubblegum and will be encouraged to take part in Breathless Blowout (presented by Breathless IPF) to raise awareness of the rare lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

On Saturday, June 9, the Stripers will host Super Hero Night (presented by Coolray Heating & Cooling). The game includes a Ronald Acuña Jr. “Super Hero” Bobblehead giveaway for the first 2,500 fans and super hero character appearances throughout the evening. Fans should be sure to stick around for an incredible Post-Game Fireworks display. The Stripers are teaming up with Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure organization on Sunday, June 10, to give fans blue bracelets for prostate cancer awareness and auction off signed baseball items. Sunday will also be another Peanut-Free Game (sponsored by Auvi-Q) at Coolray, with all peanut products being removed from concessions for the game. Sunday is also Sunday Funday (presented by Georgia United Credit Union).

Stripers players will wear the popular Worm alternate hat, and fans who purchase apparel featuring the Worm logo from the Team Store will be entered for a chance to win a prize pack.

Thursday, June 7

  • Breathless Blowout (presented by Breathless IPF) – Minor League Baseball and Boehringer Ingelheim are teaming up to raise awareness of the rare lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Fans exiting the stadium will receive bubblegum pieces and information cards about IPF.

Saturday, June 9

  • Super Hero Night (presented by Coolray Heating & Cooling) – 2017 Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year and Atlanta Braves No. 1 prospect Ronald Acuña Jr. becomes truly incredible for Super Hero Night as the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive an Acuña Jr. “Super Hero” Bobblehead. In addition to our heroes playing on the field, your favorite super hero characters will be at Coolray Field for photo opportunities!

  • Post-Game Fireworks – Watch with wonder as our fantastic Fireworks display lights up the sky!

Sunday, June 10

Features:

  • Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure – To help bring awareness to prostate cancer, fans in attendance will receive blue bracelets courtesy of Ed Randall’s non-profit charitable organization Fans for the Cure. In addition, fans in attendance can bid on a Fans for the Cure bat signed by the Stripers and a ball signed by former big-leaguer Steve Garvey! Stripers players and coaches will also be wearing blue sweatbands for the cause.

  • Sunday Funday (presented by Georgia United Credit Union) – Fans are invited to play catch on the field before the game from 12:05 p.m. and lasting approximately 20 minutes. Before and during the game, fans can get their faces painted. And after the game, kids (ages 12 and under) are welcome to run the bases to cap "Sunday Funday" presented by Georgia United Credit Union!

  • Peanut-Free Game – MiLB has partnered with Auvi-Q to sponsor a game free of peanuts. All food and drink items containing peanuts will be removed from concessions for the entire game.
