Nationally Syndicated Morning Radio Show and its Nonprofit Organization Take Families on Trip of a Lifetime

On Thursday, February 21st, twelve (12) children and their families set off on a trip of a lifetime with The Bert Show and Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Children and their families traveled from cities all across the nation including Atlanta, Charleston, Wyoming and Indianapolis to participate in this year’s trip with the nonprofit organization and The Bert Show cast members including host Bert Weiss and co-hosts Kristin Klingshirn, Davi Crimmins, and Moe Mitchell.

Founded by Bert Weiss, Bert’s Big Adventure kicked off its 17th annual trip with a big send-off party at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel, where The Bert Show hosted a live broadcast of the show featuring a variety of Disney characters, activities and surprises for the families. The Bert Show unveiled multiple surprises including an on-air marriage proposal made possible by Solomon Brothers, an ACE 150 Polaris ATV generously donated by Mountain Motorsports, an amazing weekend trip to Talladega Superspeedway this fall to see NASCAR’s 1000bulbs.com 500 thanks to Rutledge Wood and Georgia’s Own Credit Union — including access to the Toyota Suite, a garage tour and a personal meet & greet with Kyle Busch, and much more.

Following the send-off party, the families, along with The Bert Show cast members and Bert’s Big Adventure staff, were escorted on a private chartered flight courtesy of Endeavor Air where they embarked on their trip to Walt Disney World®. Upon their arrival to the happiest place on earth, the families checked in to Disney’s Beach Club Resort and then headed to Animal Kingdom’s Conservation Station where they were greeted by Mickey and Minnie Mouse for a private dinner. After dinner the families closed out the night by exploring Pandora-The World of Avatar, riding the Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Throughout the entire five-day journey, the families had the chance to experience the ultimate in VIP treatments including princess and pirate makeovers, all access passes to the Disney parks and rides, a surprise dance party with their favorite Disney characters, front-row access to fireworks and shows, and many more fun-filled activities.

Before heading home on Monday, February 25th, the families were up early in the morning for a live broadcast of The Bert Show from the ESPN Club at Disney’s BoardWalk. Parents read personalized letters to their children on-air and The Bert Show shared special highlights from the trip. Upon arrival at the Endeavor Air hangar, the families were greeted by a spontaneous dance party filled with hugs and tears of joy.

“For all of the families, this is really a great five days away from their regular routines which are normally very strenuous and hectic,” says host of The Bert Show and founder of Bert’s Big Adventure, Bert Weiss. “We really love that we can make their days a little brighter and play a part in creating lasting relationships among the families.”
