ATLANTA: This Labor Day weekend, comic book fans, gamers, sci-fi enthusiasts, and fantasy addicts from around the world will be taking over the streets of Downtown Atlanta, along with five host hotels, for the annual Dragon Con festival. Considered one of America's largest multi-genre and pop culture conventions, this year’s event will feature five days of panels, programming and demonstrations, bringing characters to life for fans. This year, NETHERWORLD Haunted House will once again join forces with the massive convention for a weekend filled with jaw-dropping floats, elaborate costumes, and outrageous fans.
Involved with Dragon Con every year since NETHERWORLD’s creation in 1997, the haunted house is no stranger to playing a spooky part in the annual festivities. NETHERWORLD is once again a sponsor of Dragon Con’s Horror Track, home to Dragon Con’s monsters, horror and a bone-chilling lineup of panels, topics and guests. NETHERWORLD’s newest Dragon Con venture is setting up a booth in Atlanta Marriott Marquis all weekend long where patrons can sign up to work at the epic attraction and stop by for exclusive Dragon Con discounts to this year’s new haunts, escape rooms and Laser Adventure Battle Arena.
The team’s most popular involvement with Dragon Con has been their long-standing participation with one of the conventions’ most anticipated events, the annual parade. This Saturday, August 31 at 10:00 am, the NETHERWORLD festivities kick off with two larger-than-life floats. Each float features terrifying frights from NETHERWORLD’s two new haunts NIGHT OF THE GORGON and COLD BLOODED. One of the floats is a colossally, gruesome gargoyle and the second float features deadly dinosaurs, including a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex and a mutated Velociraptor, that can only be held back by their handlers. The floats will be surrounded by an army of monsters featuring the Medusan Warriors, the Gorgonoids, the Mutated Battle Warriors, the Serpent from the Sewer, the Wraith of the Lizard Men and more! Keep your eyes peeled… classic monsters including The Grave Digger, The Boogeyman, Scary Sliders, and The Collector will also make an appearance in the army.
NETHERWORLD’s presence with Dragon Con has grown over the years along with the parade itself, which now attracts upwards of 100,000 spectators each year. After Dragon Con, if you dare for a scare, mark your calendar for NETHERWORLD Haunted House’s opening weekend on Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28.
