Rachel Wiggins ***ARTIST FEATURE***
Rachel Wiggins is a young award winning singer and songwriter from the Atlanta area. She began writing her own music only 3 years ago yet her songs are instantly familiar, refreshingly organic, surprisingly emotional and in arguably cool. Rachel has been influenced by the rock of Grace Potter, the bluesy jazz of Norah Jones and the crossover country tunes of Sheryl Crow. Playing gigs around Atlanta, Athens and Nashville and many places in between, is a regular part of life for this full time high school student. She has opened for artists such as Big & Rich and Ashton Shepard. Rachel has recently released her debut album, “A Hundred Places” with some of her songs receiving airplay on ATL Radio 105.7 FM as well as internet and college radio. Background Rachel began her music education through Honeybee Center for Music Education over 6 years ago. She studies voice, guitar, songwriting and music theory, as well as being a member of the ensemble performing team. The school competes in vocal competitions such as Access Broadway every year. All this under the direction of Berklee College of Music graduate Erik Grant Bennett and classically trained vocal coach Elise Bennett.
Rachel has also gained a lot of performing experience as a member of the Georgia Country-Gospel Music Association, GCGMA. Their showcases have allowed Rachel to perform at venues such as Hard Rock, amusement parks and Country Tonite Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. Rachel also enjoyed working with Nashville Spotlight.
