Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta - Review
Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta is a remarkable luxury hotel in the heart of Gwinnett. I was blown away by my first visit. I have never been to a hotel that takes such pride in making everyone feel special. With 17 floors, 426 rooms (including 15 suites) and 20,000 square feet this luxury hotel is the largest hotel in Gwinnett County. They are a full service hotel with the Grapevine Restaurant and the ArtBar on location. In addition, in room dining is also available 24 hours a day.
The alluring appeal of Infinite Energy Center, Sugarloaf Mills Mall and Braves Coolray Field will draw you into the city. However, there is so much to do on the hotel property. There is a fitness center equipped with cardio machines, free weights, indoor/outdoor pool and sun deck. The full service business center is open 24 hours for any last minute tasks. Fax, copy and overnight delivery are just a few of the services offered.
Saying that they go over and beyond is an understatement. General Manager David Kohlasch told me a remarkable story of a customer down on their luck. Daisy, the front desk attendant, helped this patron check in after 2 am. This woman was having one of the worst travel days ever. Her flight was delayed, the weather was horrible and she was famished. Unfortunately, by this time the kitchens at the hotel were closed. Without hesitation, Daisy told the customer to go up to her room and get settled. She would take care of everything. As she went to her room, Daisy had a plan of her own. She took money out of her own pocket, ordered from a diner up the street and hand delivered it to this customer. She was overjoyed and in disbelief. The customer could not wait to call the manager and tell him about this exceptional worker.
The staff here are not co-workers. They are family. Some of these individuals have been at the hotel for over 30+ years. When Sonesta acquired this property over 3 years ago, they did not clean house. They allowed workers that wanted to move forward with the new brand to stay. This speaks volumes about this company. A lot of businesses lay off long time staffers when there is a major transition underway. Not at Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta!
The employees are not the only ones treated like royalty. Customers are family too! I was delighted to learn that over 80% of patrons are return customers. Wow. That is unheard of. People connect with the environment so much that they come back on a regular basis. That alone is simply amazing. I have never personally heard of a brand so beloved that patrons refuse to stay anywhere else.
The concierge was more than helpful and I was instantly checked in. Within 1 minute of being in my room there was a knock. Management had sent up a complimentary dessert tray and bottled water. Really? Yes Really! I have traveled outside of the US and I have never received such exemplary customer service anywhere.
To top things off and to fully tie my allegiance to the Sonesta brand for LIFE, I look over at the nightstand next to the bed. At most hotels you'll see a notepad and pen. People are traveling and always need to jot down a few notes. I see a notepad with my name printed at the top. That immediately touched my heart. The time and effort that it took to create that moment made all the difference.
All staffers that I encountered were joyful and willing to help with every detail of my stay. I understand why Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta is #1 on Trip Advisor. They care about everyone and are willing to do anything to create a memory with a lasting impression. I am more than thankful for this incredible experience.
If you're ever visiting the Gwinnett Mall area, do yourself a favor and check in to the Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta. You will be so glad that you did!
A special thank you goes out to General Manager David Kohlasch, Director of Sales Mike Boyer and Allison Herron of The Brandon Agency. This experience was better than I could have ever predicted. Keep up the great work and I look forward to my next stay!
