Out Front Theatre Company recounts alternative Biblical history in The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told

Casting announced for theater’s final engagement of inaugural season

Out Front Theatre Company, Atlanta’s foremost theatre that exists to tell stories of the LGBTQIA experience and community, is pleased to announce casting for Paul Rudnick’s hilarious The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. The show will cap off Out Front Theatre’s inaugural season from April 24 – May 14!

Inspired by the fundamentalist remark, “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told is another version of Biblical history. Act One recounts the major episodes of the Old Testament, only with a twist – instead of Adam and Eve, our lead characters are Adam and Steve, and Jane and Mabel, a lesbian couple with whom they decide to start civilization (procreation proves to be a provocative challenge!). As these two gay couples navigate through centuries together and encounter various odd characters, we follow them through a crazed historical pageant that brings us to a present-day New York City.

"Line by line, Mr. Rudnick may be the funniest writer for the stage in the United States today…One-liners, epigrams, withering put-downs and flashing repartee: These are the candles that Mr. Rudnick lights instead of cursing the darkness, although he does a lot of cursing, too…a testament to the virtues of laughing…and in laughter, there is something like the memory of Eden." —NY Times.

"Funny it is…consistently, rapaciously, deliriously…easily the funniest play in town." —Variety.

"…there is no one writing for the stage today who is capable of more acid quips or hilarious rejoinders than Rudnick…Even if there's a part of you that will be chagrined by this play's uncertain attitude toward religious beliefs, you will find yourself laughing uncontrollably throughout the evening." —NY Daily News.

Starring Ty Autry as Adam and Brian Jordan as Steve, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told also features Ellie Stryon as Jane, Jenni McCarthy as Mabel and Nicole Smith as Stage Manager. Jess McGuire, Alex Burcar, Davin Allen Grindstaff, and Rachel Garbus round out the cast as members of the ensemble.

Paul Conroy, Out Front Theatre Company’s Founder and Producing Artistic Director, directs this production with assistant direction from Matt Busch. Rounding out the production team are Brandon Muggy, production stage manager; Charles Swift, lighting design; Jacob Demlow, sound design; Austin Kunis, property design/scenic artist and Jay Reynolds, costume design.

Performances run April 24 – May 14, with shows on Thursdays – Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for children, $20 for students and seniors and $25 for adults. Out Front Theatre Company is located at 999 Brady Ave., Ste. 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30318.
