Atlanta Dream Take Time Out to Give Back

Entire team participated in Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity build

ATLANTA – The entire Atlanta Dream roster took a timeout from training camp to participate in a very special Women Build with Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity Tuesday morning.

Under blue skies, the team enjoyed a day outside the gymnasium and got their hands dirty. Redefining team-building, veterans Tiffany Hayes and Sancho Lyttle worked with new-comers Brittney Sykes and Darxia Morris to give back.

“It is always great to get the team together and into the community,” Associate Head Coach Karleen Thompson said. “It keeps everyone humble and grateful for what you have.”

The team, joined by members of the Dream front office, broke up into groups and did everything from carrying two-by-fours to painting. A group also began to put together a shed in the back of the Habitat home.

“This kind of event works both ways,” Sykes said. “We have an opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community and show the people of our community we care. And ultimately is just a great feeling to give back.”

The team will return to practice tomorrow afternoon after a morning of photos, video-taping and talking to media.

The Atlanta Dream, who is celebrating its 10th season in the WNBA in 2017, will play its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. Atlanta has qualified for the playoffs seven times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
