Discover the Incredible Ecosystems of the Amazon at Fernbank's Amazon Adventure Day

Celebration to Include 15 Species of Parrots, Rainforest Games, Crafts and an All-New Giant Screen Film

ATLANTA, May 24, 2017 — Fernbank Museum of Natural History invites visitors on an awe-inspiring exploration of the Amazon region with live animals, crafts, games and an all-new Giant Screen film at Amazon Adventure Day on Saturday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This family event will highlight the inhabitants and history of the region with a variety of rainforest-themed hands-on activities.

Amazon Adventure Day will take guests from the forest floor to the top of the canopy as they discover interesting facts about life in the rainforest. Parrot Productions will be onsite with magnificent jungle-dwellers, including over 15 different species of parrots and opportunities to touch them. Guests will enjoy a pipe cleaner snake craft, an Amazonian obstacle course, a crocodile ring toss and a chance to apply a jungle-themed temporary tattoo. Additional activities include creating a rain maker to take home the soothing sounds of the jungle, as well as a conservation station in which guests are encouraged to write down a promise to help save our rainforests.

Amazon Adventure Day at Fernbank is inspired by the new giant screen film, Amazon Adventure 3D. The film traces the extraordinary journey of naturalist and explorer Henry Walter Bates – the most influential scientist you’ve never heard of – who provided “the beautiful proof” to Charles Darwin for his then-controversial theory of natural selection, the scientific explanation for the development of life on Earth. Filmed on location in the lush Amazon region, Amazon Adventure 3D uses the immersive Giant Screen format to plunge audiences into a wild world of breathtaking beauty and captivating animal behavior. Visit FernbankMuseum.org for show times and tickets.

All Amazon Adventure Day activities are included with Museum admission which is $18 for adults, $17 for seniors, $16 for children ages 3-12 and free for children ages 2 and under and Museum members. Amazon Adventure 3D requires a separate ticket, included with the purchase of a Value Pass.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History is located at 767 Clifton Road NE in Atlanta. For visitor information and tickets, visit FernbankMuseum.org.
