RECAP: Iconic Women Winemakers at City Winery

RECAP: Iconic Women Winemakers at City Winery

City Winery hosted an Iconic Women Winemakers event on June 28, 2018. This intimate gathering was so well organized and executed. Our group was composed of couples, friends and complete strangers that would leave as friends. The evening was led by passionate female staff that not only love wine but dropped little known winery knowledge.

Women are not often highlighted in this industry. We attribute to a large percentage of wine consumers. We also contribute a lot but recognition seldom happens. Not on this night. The limelight shined on legendary females that are leaving their mark.

I have had my share of wine tastings. They’re usually plain & mundane. That was not the case here. This affair was different because each wine was paired with an entrée. And not just any entrée. These were specialty plates created by executive chef Nicholas Anderson. These savory bites complimented each wine quite well.

I typically only like white wines. The first few were a delight. Each were unique but one stood out on its own. Faith Drew, associate winemaker at City Winery Atlanta introduced us to her crafted SS Chardonnay 2017. This wine blew me away. The aroma alone captured my attention. But that first sip was something else. The citrus like blend was out of this world. I absolutely loved it!

I’m not usually a fan of red wines but the samples we had were exceptional. More than anything, listening to the stories about these courageous women was inspiring. We learned that some were approachable while others are not as friendly. Across the board, all of these inventors produced rare wines for generations to enjoy.

I am so thankful that I was able to attend this event. It has certainly opened up my mind to other options. City Winery is one of my favorite night spots so I loved the excuse to visit. For more on City Winery Atlanta Events Click Here. #citywineryatl #ashsaidit
