GRAMMY-Nominated Nappy Roots Collaborates with Cherry Street Brewing

On My Way to GA is a microbrew that recognizes the band’s popular song

ALPHARETTA, GA – GRAMMY-nominated Nappy Roots and Cherry Street Brewing have partnered to produce “On My Way to GA” craft beer. The limited-edition Peach Summer IPA will be available on tap and in cans at both Cherry Street locations beginning Thursday, July 23.

The 6.5 percent American IPA is generously hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe hop varieties and infused with lots of peaches. Derived from the band’s 2008 single, the beer’s name reflects the band’s appreciation for their adopted home state.

“We are excited to relax and enjoy drinking this delicious cold IPA on a warm summer night,” said Skinny Deville, one of the founding members of Nappy Roots. “The partnership with Cherry Street Brewing has created a dope beer that our fans are going to love. We encourage everyone to grab a four-pack to go.”

The band began experimenting with craft beers at their home brewery, Atlantucky, which fermented their passion for microbrewing. During the past several years, they have mass-produced numerous beers across the country. In addition, the group is developing a reality show that will follow the band as they visit craft breweries where they perform across the country.

"We have enjoyed collaborating and chillin' with the guys at Nappy Roots,” said Grace Collias, Market Sales Manager at Cherry Street Brewing. “They are super knowledgeable about the craft beer industry, and they sure know how to have a good time. We look forward to working with them again in the future."

The group just dropped its latest single, “Backroads,” on July 17. Nappy Roots has been nominated for two American Music Awards (AMA) in 2003: Favorite Band, Duo or Group – Hip-Hop/R&B and Favorite New Artist – Hip-Hop/R&B. That same year, they were also nominated for Best New Artist at the Soul Train Award. In 2011, Southern Entertainment Awards nominated their album “The Pursuit of Nappyness” for Album of the Year.
