THE VETERANS DAY FALL CLASSIC AT THE BATTERY ATLANTA

Registration Now Open for the new Running Festival for Veterans

Atlanta, Ga. - Registration is now open for the inaugural Veterans Day Fall Classic at The Battery Atlanta. The running festival takes place November 11th, 2017, and honors the men and women who have bravely served in the military.

The event offers four race distances — a 10-Miler, a 5-Miler, a 5K Run/Walk and a Kids 1-Miler — and post-race festivities which include entertainment, local food, refreshments and children activities. Runners can participate in a Hill Charge Challenge by racing up three hills identified on the 10-Miler course or sign up for the Double Duty Challenge by running the 10-Miler+5K or the 5-Miler+5K. Special awards are available for each challenge.

The Veterans Day Fall Classic Foundation produces the running festival and serves as a vehicle for charities and nonprofits benefiting Veterans to generate awareness and fundraise. Proceeds will be distributed to participating organizations.

Online registration is now open at www.veteransdayfallclassic.com. This inaugural event, will cap each race to ensure a quality experience. Runners are encouraged to not only register, but to all make a donation to the veteran’s charity of their choice. They also have the opportunity to dedicate their race in the #Run4AVet program by customizing their bib with the name of a treasured veteran.

U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson serves as an honorary chair of the Organizing Committee. The committee is led by Heath Garrett as chairman and Danny Bourgeois as president. Committee members include event partners and community leaders dedicated to hosting a successful endurance event for years to come while improving the lives of Georgia veterans. The committee will recognize three veterans at the post-race presentation for his/her contributions to veterans in Georgia.

“The state of Georgia has an opportunity to embrace a new tradition that will not only encourage a healthy lifestyle, but also impact the lives of veterans and their families,” said Sen. Johnny Isakson - honorary chair of the event organizing committee.

The race courses begin and end at The Battery Atlanta, providing a unique experience for runners and spectators alike. Situated beside the new home of the Atlanta Braves, SunTrust Park, The Battery Atlanta offers restaurants, retail and entertainment in one exciting location. Participating Battery Atlanta restaurants will offer tastings to runners and serve as a hospitality suite benefiting select charities and non-profits during the post-race festivities — all proceeds from the suites will benefit the host charity.

“We are fortunate to have The Battery Atlanta as a partner in the running festival as we offer our state an additional way to show respect and celebrate our veterans,” said Danny Bourgeois, Event Director.
