Atlanta Dream to Hold Coat Drive September 5

The Dream will collect coats at State Farm Arena, donate to Atlanta Mission

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Dream will host a coat drive Thursday, September 5 at State Farm Arena ahead of the team’s game against the Las Vegas Aces. All of the coats collected will be donated to the Atlanta Mission, a nonprofit organization serving homeless men, women and children in the Atlanta area.

Boxes will be stationed outside the CNN Center entrance, the box office entrance and the MARTA entrance to the arena for fans to donate new or gently used coats.

Earlier this season, the Dream hosted a toy drive benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). Dream fans donated over 300 toys while the Dream faced the Los Angeles Sparks at State Farm Arena, and several Dream players traveled to CHOA to personally distribute the toys on August 7. Photos from the event can be found here.

About the Atlanta Mission

Since its 1938 beginnings, this Christian nonprofit ministry has grown from a small soup kitchen to a multi-facility organization serving Metro Atlanta’s large homeless population. Today, Atlanta Mission provides emergency shelter, rehab and recovery services, vocational training, services, and transitional housing. We serve more than 1,000 homeless men, women, and children every day. In 2017, the Atlanta Mission served 8,613 men, women and children, while providing nearly 600,000 meals and almost 250,000 nights of shelter to vulnerable people in the Atlanta community.

The Atlanta Dream, who are celebrating their 12th season in the WNBA in 2019, will play their home games in State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. The Dream have qualified for the playoffs nine times, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010. Group and single game tickets are available now.
