The Bert Show Launches Back-to-School Drive for Frederick W. Benteen Elementary

All the Hits Q100’s Morning Radio Show Teams Up with Local School to Raise Donations for Supplies

ATLANTA — All the Hits Q100’s morning show, The Bert Show, is calling on the Atlanta community to join them in a new back-to-school campaign to raise money for the students and teachers of Frederick Wilson Benteen Elementary. As a new school year begins, many children in Atlanta’s low income areas are in need of school supplies. The morning show’s goal is to ensure that every student and teacher from pre-K through 5th grade has the supplies they need to make this school year a success.

At Benteen Elementary, 100% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The median income per household in the area is only $26,000, leaving many students in need of supplies, clothes, and sometimes even food. Under the leadership of the new principal, Dr. Andrew Lovett, Jr., the school has been infused with new optimism, increased parental involvement, improved academic programs and increased test scores.

“The Bert Show and their listening audience is making a difference in the lives of our Benteen students by providing school supplies so our families won’t have to choose between the necessities of life or supplies for the school year, and for that, we are truly grateful!” says Dr. Lovett.

The Bert Show and Benteen Elementary are aiming to raise $20,000 to purchase the remaining “start of the year” school supplies. Any additional funds raised over its goal will go towards restocking supplies throughout the year.

“We really wanted to make a complete impact on one school in need,” says Bert Weiss, Host of The Bert Show. “To make a difference to where at one school, no parent, student or teacher would have to worry about school supplies for the rest of the year. We understand that in most cases, sometimes family budgets come down to either picking out school supplies or clothes for their kids. So we wanted to eliminate that one stress for the school year for every student at Benteen.”
